While life can be immensely joyful, it can also be incredibly difficult, even for the most fortunate of us. All of us will find ourselves at times feeling lost, lonely, trapped, stuck, or confused and longing for change. For many people, a therapy relationship can be a powerful tool in finding a new way of living and being, one that is more emotionally satisfying and relationally fulfilling. In this relationship, we can find safety to explore what feels scary, learn new perspectives and strategies, and discover the strength and wisdom that resides in each of us. To this end, Heath strives to offer clients genuine presence, empathic listening, compassionate support, and respectful and knowledgeable feedback.
Heath enjoys working with a broad range of adult individuals, especially those who desire to use the therapy relationship to find self- acceptance, deepen self-understanding, and strengthen self-confidence. Heath is LGBTQ+ affirming and enjoys supporting individuals in deconstructing self-limiting or shame-inducing beliefs about gender and sexuality. Heaths approach to therapy tends to fall under labels like: emotionally-focused, relationally-oriented, person-centered, and humanistic/existential, though he also incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy. Heath has significant training and long-term experience in mindfulness and meditative-based practices, and utilize those with clients who are interested. Areas of expertise include: depression and anxiety related disorders, PTSD, grief and loss, and OCD.
